Code of Conduct
Last updated: June 5, 2026
Why this exists
This code of conduct applies to www.awscommunity.co.za and the Meetup Group AWS User Group Cape Town on Meetup https://www.meetup.com/aws-cpt/. This website and the Meetup Page is run by AWS Community South Africa.
AWS Community South Africa exists to foster technical and professional education and to encourage community discussion around AWS and cloud technologies. We firmly believe every member deserves an environment where they feel welcome and safe. This Code of Conduct explains the behaviour we expect from everyone taking part in our community — at our events and in our online spaces.
Expected Behaviour
By registering for or attending any of our events, or participating in our online channels, you agree that:
- You will behave in a way that keeps the environment safe, welcoming, and supportive for all participants.
- You will not engage in any form of harassing, offensive, discriminatory, or threatening speech or behaviour, including but not limited to speech or behaviour relating to race, gender, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation, or any other protected category.
- You will not engage in disruptive speech or behaviour, or otherwise interfere with sessions, speakers, or other individuals' participation.
- You will provide accurate and truthful information when registering or checking in, and you will only register yourself.
- You will only attend events you have registered for. You will not bring unregistered guests, and you will not transfer, lend, or share your registration, badge, or credentials with anyone.
- You will not attempt to receive benefits you are not entitled to. Refreshments, swag, prizes, and other benefits are for registered attendees only, and may be subject to limits set by the organizers.
- You will treat venues, venue hosts, and their staff and property with respect, and follow all venue rules.
- You will comply with the instructions of event organizers, volunteers, and venue staff.
- You will not use our events or channels to market, promote, solicit, or distribute materials for your own products or services, or those of any third party, without the organizers' prior written consent.
- You will comply with all applicable laws and any event-specific requirements, including health and safety requirements.
Scope

Where our events are affiliated with AWS programs, the AWS Code of Conduct also applies.
Reporting
